Formed in the end of the 80s and being the first to mix a variation of styles such as ethereal-pop, wave and down-tempo/trip-hop in Brazil, Individual Industry returns after being 14 years away from the scene with 13 songs, 11 of them completely new.
The latest album was produced and mastered by the audio engineer and producer Cysco Nasa between the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010, being finalized in November, after twenty three years on the road the band has been consolidated as a duo composed by Alex Twin and Maurizio Bonito.
The flawless production and the aesthetic care present in digipack as well as DVD are complemented by the guest voices, the highlight of this release.
The voices and the songs:
Carine Grieg, whose voice is present in the French “Collection D´arnell Andrea” and “O Quam Tristis” can be found in three songs: “Amy”, paying tribute to Amy Johnson, the first aviator to perform a transatlantic flight; “Sleepy Travel” and “L’emprise”, fragments of a motion picture diary purely made of sound.
Catherine Marie, vocalist and multi-instrumentist in the band “Opera Multi Steel”, collaborates in the markedly “indie/electro” reto-futuristic track “Les Innocents”, with its “French touch” sweet, light and dancing.
Jayne Casey, vocalist of the band Pink Industry, who has started singing again with her son, the singer and producer Ra Cle, after a 20-year break, also a source of inspiration for the song “Blessed Me”.
Vivian, the sophisticated voice of the band Downward Path, aligns sensitivity and romance to “Lo-Fi”, “Calliente” and the urban “Spring Night Dreams”.
Danyela Gato, responsible for the vocal melodies in “Ice/Water”, enchants the second album of the band with the song “Dreams Never End”, which counts on her talent in the acoustic guitar.
Bettina Koester, caustic vocalist of the post-punk/wave German band “Malaria!”, and her crazy and anarchic interpretation that can be a “damn spring dream”.
Claudia de Oliveira vocalist of the band “Scarlat Leaves”, delicately prepares us with her celestial and oneiric voice for a one way trip to “Dreamland”.
Hatria, the versatile vocalist of the band “Beata Beatrix” exalts the drama and the Italian glamour in “ Free in The Universe”, impregnated and transmuted in an irresistible hedonist feast.
Carla Picchiantano, erudute vocalist of the French “Speaking Silence”, the true heir of the best phase of the British “ethereal-pop” unfolds to us “the Key of Dreams” as a quasi-madrigal softly permeated by a German electronic accent.
Ending the original versions of the album Gayna, the vocalist of the British band “Shiny Two Shiny”, present us with a wonderful version of “to sir With Love”, song originally immortalized by the voice of Lulu, for the homonym 60s film starred by Sidney Potier, extended and reformulated here by the electronic and varnished by a minimalism immerse in “soul”.
In short this CD brings the Italian drama, the British ethereal/pop/wave, the anarchy and the electronic with German accent with a French touch, all amalgamated in a band original from Brazil.
